How can I check the status of my files on my mobile?


Thanks to our users feedback, we came up with new status for your files and folders in the Lima mobile app, that you can find in the 0.11 version of the Android and iOS app.

Is this file available now?“, “Will it still be if I leave the Internet land?” We’ve got you covered!

Where’s my file located right now? Can I access it?

Let’s have a look at what’s written under the name of your file...

“on Lima”

That means that your file is stored on the hard drive attached to Lima and that your file is available.

“on Lima, unreachable”

Your files is stored on the hard drive attached to Lima, but your Lima can’t be reached or your device is offline right now. You will get access to this file when you get an Internet connection back.

“on <my device’s name>”

This file is waiting to be transferred from one of your devices to the external drive attached to Lima. As upload hasn’t been completed yet, the main source is still the originating device. You can already access the file when the originating device is online. If the device is shutdown however, the file will be grayed out with status “On <my device’s name>, unreachable”.

The file is stored in cache on your device on Lima’s recommendations, so you can access it whether you’re online or offline. The file is both stored in your phone and in the drive attached to Lima. However, if you run out of space Lima will delete this local copy that you haven’t deliberately asked for.

Note that on Android, you now have the possibility to clear the cache in the app. 

“Uploading to Lima”

Your file is on its way to be uploaded to the hard drive attached to Lima. You can already access this file from all of your other devices as long as your device is online.


Is my file available when I’m offline?

If you’re planning to go off the Internet, you can keep any files locally in just a click to be able to access them anytime. That’s the “Keep Offline” feature.

“Queued for Download”

You have requested an offline version of this file. It’s been added to the download queue. Once it is completed, it will change to “Kept Offline”.

“Download paused”

Previously “Queued for Download”, download has been paused because your mobile can’t connect to the Lima. We recommend you to check your Internet connection. Once the download is completed, your files will be statued as “kept offline”.

“Downloading – x%”


The file is currently being downloaded to your device.

“Kept offline”

The file is stored on your device’s local memory, and is accessible with or without an internet connection. You can turn off the mobile WiFi, and the file will still be available.


What about my folders?

All the files in the folder (and its subfolders) are to be kept offline. Download has begun but isn’t finished yet.

“Download paused”

Download is paused because some sources for download can’t be reached by the mobile device.

“Kept Offline”

All the files in the folder (and its subfolders) are stored locally in the mobile device. So all the files from this folder are accessible from your mobile with or without an Internet connection.

It means that there are some files in the folder (or its subfolders) that aren’t kept offline. Some of them are, some of them aren’t, so we can’t say that the whole folder is offline.

“On this device”

All the files in the folder (and its subfolders) are in the mobile device cache. They’re already on Lima, but they’re also on your smartphone because Lima know you’re using these files a lot so it’s faster to just have them here all the time. If you run out of space, Lima will clear the cache and those files will only be available when you’re online.


“Source file not available in Gallery” 

You can see this status only under the whole below described conditions.

This status appears because the original file isn’t found any longer on the mobile device Gallery, its status is “Source file not available in Gallery". The Lima application is going to delete the file from the Lima file's list.

Here some explanation on why this happens:
Thanks to the automatic Media Upload, the Lima application has previously found your file in the mobile device Gallery, and it has added it to the Lima file's list. 
However, this file was never been entirely uploaded to the Lima drive and so it has never been seen as ‘On Lima’ via the mobile device.
It happens when the original file has been removed from (or moved out of) the mobile Gallery by any possible "user" action or any other mobile application but not by the Lima application! The Lima application never deletes nor moves an original file!
